14 March 2006 - 11:19"Imagining An Open-Source World"

By way of a mention in BrokeKid, a link to a story with the title "Imagining An Open-Source World."

Remember the "imagining" part. It's doubtful it's a story about a real company, but it sure sounds good.

Actually, many of us could well run our companies like that. And some of us are well on the way. There is this small issue of supporting those users who have strong Windows/Mac preferences but that shouldn't be an issue (other than the extra costs for licenses for software that doesn't otherwise offer any advantages than familiarity).

But the rest of the arguments put forth against closed and/or proprietary software are quite clear in this piece. They're not overstated. There's no real arm waving. It's tight and a good reference piece for those of us who "imagine" that the world will look like that sooner rather than later.

I'm adding DirectorBlue to my feed-list.
